Competition Rules

1. To qualify for entry in the 2010 Monterey Wine Competition, you must be a commercial winery or a private label produced by a commercial/professional winemaker.

2. A wine’s category will be determined by the Chief Judge based upon the varietal composition and other information supplied by the producer.

3. All medals will be awarded by the judges. The judges’ decision will be final.

4. The Chief Judge reserves the right to create or delete categories if the number of entries so warrants. The Chief Judge also reserves the right to assign entries to proper categories.

5. Wine submitted for which there is no existing category will be entered in an appropriate category created by the Chief Judge.

6. The same wine may not be entered in more than one category. However, one winery may submit multiple entries in the same category.

7. Wines must be received in 375ml, 750ml, or 1.5 liter bottles to be accepted for judging.

8. An official entry consists of four 750ml or 1.5 liter bottles, or eight 375ml bottles. An official spirits entry consists of two 750ml bottles or four 375ml bottles.

9. All entries must be received by February 17, 2010. Wines must be received no later than February 22, 2010 or they will not be entered in the competition.

10. Entry fees are not refundable.

11. All wine entries become property of the Monterey Wine Competition.

12. All entry fees must be paid in full prior to the start of competition or entry will be disqualified.
